Welcome to Early Intervention Yorkshire and Humber

This website has been developed through a collaborative of early intervention services across the Yorkshire and Humber region.  The work has been funded by the Yorkshire and Humber Improvement Partnership through the Early Intervention in Psychosis Regional Programme.

The aim of the site is:

  • to enable the public to find out more about psychosis and where to get help in their locality
  • to provide peer support to young people who have experienced psychosis
  • to provide peer support to families and friends of young people who have experienced psychosis
  • to be a forum for mental health professionals to share good practice
  • to contribute to reducing the stigma of psychosis and mental health problems generally

Early Intervention: From Margin to Mainstream

This film celebrates the first 10 years of early intervention services

ALL IN THE MIND?

PAUL BURSTOW IS INTERVIEWED BY RADIO 4`s CLAUDIA HAMMOND

Coalition health minister values early intervention in psychosis on radio 4's All in the Mind programme

‘The evidence is pretty compelling that by intervening early you can make a real difference; you can avoid someone being admitted into acute hospital care so this is really a no brainer. It makes sense to invest in early interventions to go back upstream and make sure we prevent these sorts of problems’.

Quote from Louis Appleby

"I have seen how much progress early intervention teams have made, how innovative they have been, and the impact they are having. I now believe that early intervention will be the most important and far reaching reform of the NSF era. Crisis resolution has had the most immediate effect but I think early intervention will have the greatest effect on people’s lives." Professor Louis Appleby, National Director for Mental Health October 10th 2008, at the Policies and Practice for Europe (DH / WHO Europe conference attended by 35 European Countries).
